How We Started Our Startup: The Story of Tadka
Every startup has a story. Ours is not about big investors or fancy offices. It is about three middle-class friends, their dreams, and their roots.
We live in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, but our families belong to Bihar and UP. Like many of you, we grew up seeing our parents work hard, studying in normal schools, eating homemade food, and slowly learning what life means.
Two of us went into corporate jobs. We wore formals, sat in AC cabins, attended endless meetings, and ran behind targets. The third of us built a career in real estate, understanding the ground-level struggles of business. Life was moving, but something was missing.
Whenever we sat together, no matter what we discussed, the conversation always ended on one thing — the taste of home.
The smell of fresh turmeric in mom’s kitchen. The crunch of Thekua during festivals. The pure taste of spices brought from our villages. These were not just food items, they were memories of childhood and a connection to our roots.
The Farmers’ Struggle
When we visited our villages, we saw something that hurt us deeply.
Our farmers — who grow the best turmeric, cumin, and mustard — were struggling. They worked hard in the fields, using age-old methods, but when it came to selling their crops, they got very little money.
Middlemen took most of the profit. Farmers barely earned enough to survive. We often heard them say:
“Hum mehnat karte hain, lekin izzat aur daam dono nahi milta.”
That line stayed with us.
The Consumers’ Problem
At the same time, as consumers, we also had our own problems. In the city, we often bought spices from shops and online. But the taste was different.
The haldi had color, but no aroma.
The jeera looked good, but the flavor was weak.
And most of the time, we had no idea where these spices came from.
People wanted purity and trust. But the market was full of compromise.
Why Bihar & UP Matter
We always felt proud of our roots. Bihar and UP are not just known for history and culture — they are also the lands of food and farming. For generations, families here have grown the purest spices and made snacks that bring people together.
But sadly, the world rarely saw this side. Bihar’s name was not connected with purity or tradition in the market. We wanted to change that.
The Birth of Tadka
One evening, while sitting together, we asked ourselves:
“Why don’t we do something that connects farmers to consumers directly?”
That’s when the idea of Tadka was born.
For farmers: we wanted to give them respect and fair prices.
For consumers: we wanted to bring back the real, authentic taste of Bihar and UP.
For ourselves: we wanted to build something meaningful, not just run behind salaries and targets.
With our corporate skills, business experience, and most importantly, our friendship, we took the first step.
What Tadka Stands For
For us, Tadka is not just a brand. It’s our way of keeping traditions alive.
For Farmers: They get fair pay and a chance to share their stories.
For Consumers: They get pure, chemical-free, authentic spices and snacks.
For Bihar & UP: A chance to show the world the richness of our soil and culture.
✨ The Journey Ahead
We started small — just a few products, packed with love and honesty. But every packet we send out carries a story:
The story of the farmer who grew it.
The story of our roots in Bihar and UP.
The story of three middle-class boys who dared to dream big in Bhilai.
Our dream is to reach every kitchen in India. To make people taste the difference of authentic spices. To make farmers proud of their work. And to make Bihar & UP shine for their food and tradition.
🙌 Final Thoughts
Tadka is our journey from middle-class dreams to building something bigger than ourselves. It is about giving back to the soil where we belong and creating something that every family can trust.
We are not just selling spices. We are selling trust, purity, and tradition.
And whenever you open a packet of Tadka, remember — you are not just adding flavor to your food, you are adding support to a farmer, respect to Bihar & UP, and strength to three friends chasing a dream.
Because Tadka is more than a brand.
It’s our roots, our culture, and our heart — served to you. 🌿
